The Darkness
Your beauty is understated and restrained,
The shadows that you cast enchanting,
The day sees you in retreat and chained,
Come evening you return, cold and haunting,
Forever faithful, silence accompanies you,
Your partner in crime,
But for all your might untrue,
Your reign is kept in check by time,
Into a monotonous repetition you are locked,
Forever forced to come and go,
For eternity has your power been docked,
The hours of day you are obliged to forgo,
O Darkness, charming dictator,
Your sombre allure shall not seduce me,
For I am loyal to another, with virtues far greater,
Light and its righteous decree.
