Hunger

As I stand alone, away, frightened,
Where is the shadow that grabs me with iron grips?
Where is the stone that falls on me?
Where is the hunger?
As I stand alone, away, frightened,
The shadows grow, hiding me, isolating me,
The stones keep falling, crumbling my light,
The hunger draws nearer.
As I stand in company, together, close
The shadows are brushed away,
The stones are stopped by light,
Hunger is beaten,
But will come again to regain its loss,
To gasp more victims in it’s hard, steely hands.
