Forever Myself
I will not always be my age
or have the same skin.
I will not look the same forever,
I’ll get older and more thin.
I might have children and grandchildren,
maybe even more.
Or perhaps I won’t have any,
you can never be too sure.
I may live to be eighteen or one hundred and two.
But I will never change myself
and that is what is true.
I won’t change for some guy
or any friends of mine.
I will always be myself
and for me that’s fine.
