Honoured Writers of 2011 Winners, & New Competitions

Happy New Year!

It's the perfect time to be creative. School holidays are on, and Write4fun is having not one, but TWO competitions!

'Summer Sizzlers' the online holiday writing competition is open to entries now. Visit www.write4fun.net for rules and details. The deadline for entries is 27 January.

'What The Holidays Mean To Me' is our Facebook competition. This competition is for art and writing. Visit our Facebook page for competition details. (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Write4Fun/236444626401742)   The deadline for entries is 20 January.

Congratulations to the winners of the 'Honoured Writers of 2011' competition! The high quality of the entries made the judging extremely difficult. But, after much consideration the winners are...

First place - 'The Battle Of Sunset' by Joanna Holland, a vivid poem detailing the daily, and nightly, battle for control of the sky.

Second place - 'Darwin, 2 May 1943' by Dominique Atley, a wrenching short story about the attack of the Japanese in Darwin from the point of view of a young girl.

Third place - 'I Sat And Watched' by Kate Alexander, a quiet and considering poem on the changing view of the author's world.

The winning entries, and the finalists, can be read on the Write4fun website now. Thank you to everyone who entered and made the competition such a fantastic one!
