With one stoke of the charm all seemed to be at ease.
The simple, delicate object that always seemed to please.
The girl obtained this object long ago and since felt no harm,
She believed her life was under the wonderful influence of a lucky charm.
She acquired a radiant glow,
Gained confidence and let it show.
On display like a piece of art,
Or an open doorway to her heart.
However, was her good fortune the act of superstitions?
Or rather her increased efforts at competitions?
Was her success due to increased confidence in her abilities,
or the lucky charm increasing her capabilities?
We're told breaking a mirror can cost us happiness for seven years,
But do these superstitions add to those fears?
Is a lucky charm only as lucky as you allow it to be?
Or is it simply a case of mind over matter in which we refuse to see?
