The clouds are dark and grey.
The Sun lays drowsy and yawning.
The rain pelts harder than pebbles,
Early one winter morning.
The wind is howling and growling.
The air is as cold as ice.
The roads are wetter than a swimming pool.
The birds fly away like scared mice.
I am soaked through the skin.
It is darker than a cellar.
The cars kick up droplets of water.
I wish I’d stayed inside like a smart fella.
It has been like this for hours,
But it has not stopped raining.
I do not hold high hopes for the day,
Early this winter morning.
