Caballitos De Mar

The descent was calm and slow,
Sinking into the boundless unknown.
From the gloom, weird and strange creatures began to glow,
Aliens from a world so mysterious, sad, and alone.

In the looming darkness of the abysmal plain,
Sounds, sweet but lonely echoed and groaned.
Yet I sought for something to gain,
To forget the feeling of being disowned.

But the towering grasses that caressed the sky
And the purple pearls that gleamed from the dusty floor
Did not speak or say goodbye
Like the man who left to be someone more.

For unlike the mares of the deep,
The sons of those we keep
Will never stray afar,
Caballitos de mar.
