Finalist in the 'Write As Rain 2014' competition
Silently and swiftly,
Along the shore they went,
Strong, stout-hearted bravery,
Loyal, willing men.
In the trenches waiting,
For summons to their death,
Poised and ready for charging
Hearts thumping in their chests.
Here comes the order-"Charge!"
A mad rush of men towards,
The enemy at large,
They hear the roar of guns.
Pale faced, the ones behind,
See their companion’s dead,
Courage still undaunted,
Charge on- Lest we forget.
