Eating breakfast together when suddenly, I was dragged away,
Bundled into a car, strapped up and doors all locked.
Feeling afraid and distraught as the car engine boots up,
My tearful parents disappear in the distance, dazed and shocked.
Headed for an uncertain future through vast country plains,
Dejected, despondent and no clue as to why I'm here.
Have I done anything wrong, has Mum sold me for life?
Or was there just no reason at all, my mind is still unclear.
Arriving at an unknown place, frightened I am now,
Completely different atmosphere, climbing out in great fear.
As I wander through the hall I'm feeling certain now,
I'll never see family again, with horror nightmares near.
For many years I wondered, not knowing, never sure,
Forced to adjust my way of life, to blend with the nation.
My existence torn apart, my family distraught,
I, like many others, represent the Stolen Generation.
