Look upon the jacaranda, its beauty everlasting
Til the wind should blow.
Look upon the jacaranda, flowers of violet
Vibrant, least before the snow.
Look upon the jacaranda, the storm passes.
A destructive path, turning, turning…
Look upon the jacaranda, vibrant, beautiful, gone.
Deflowered by an untimely storm.
Look upon the jacaranda, so empty, barren,
A shell left in wake.
Look upon the jacarandas, all broken now.
Spring approaches; with it, hope.
Look upon the jacarandas, no longer shallow
But brimming with beauty everlasting,
Til the next wind blows.
