You’re so overwhelmed with happiness,
Yet everyone around you seems oblivious.
Your emotions you contain, but to your dismay, It is wounds you sustain.
Contentment morphs into endless sorrow,
You feel a pit in your stomach and you try to swallow.
You can’t seem to push past the lump in your throat,
You try to speak, but you choke.
Your emotionless, motionless, you’re not breathing,
Whatever the phrase it still has the same meaning.
You can't express in speech how you feel, so you write it out,
You write till your pen dries out.
You can't write anymore, so you run to the convenience store.
But then you realise that it's a new day, a fresh page,
These mixed emotions, their just a phase, the coming of age.
You again, try to write how you feel,
But now you understand that we're all living life on a hamster wheel.
