The blood that was spilt so long ago
So the means of life could start to flow
People now will never know
The sacrifices made so long ago
They sing their songs and chant their chants
To many wishes never to be grant
So fragile like the leaves of a plant
When asked to obey they shout, “We can’t!”
We try so hard to start to remember
Our loved ones gone from May to September
Not to return until November
We cry holding their belongings at the dawn of December
Forgotten heroes trying to fit in
When war passes their lights will dim
Their tributes crumpled and thrown in the bin
They hide their secrets deep within
