The questionable silence, invisible to the eye,
Lingering at the edges of conversation, never needing a reply.
The questionable silence, as it moves its way on in,
Settling on the tip of a tongue, or just beneath the skin.
The questionable silence, it quiets words of good,
Whispering things that can't be spoken, words that shouldn't, words that should.
The questionable silence, it's arrived as we speak now,
Soon it'll worm its way between us, and we will never quite know how.
The questionable silence, though awkward it may seem,
It will thief away our every thought, so quiet, now, sweet dreams.
