Up above the world, hovering like an angel in the sky,
I've never seen anything so beautiful;
So glorious, so pure, so new.
It is floating in the sea of the sky.
It is smiling at gaping open-mouthed watchers below.
It is shining and can't wait to spread its show
for the whole night.
Some are sad the sun's gone to see
the people on the other side of the world.
But as they cry and plead for the sun, the moon comes and says:
Darlings, you needn't be so mournful,
For though the sun is gone, I am here
and will stay all the night, keeping you company.
I am not as bright and yellow as the sun,
But I am a light to guide the way through for lost ones below.
Don't cry tonight, for I am near.
