If I had never known Sadness,
Would I have ever known you?
Because when Sadness grew wings,
To my forsakenness, I bid adieu.
She flew me over the darkness,
When I saw only eternal night,
And dropped me into your arms,
Where you promised eternal light.
If I had never known sadness,
Would I have ever known this truth?
That life is so much greater with you-
My old friend Solitude is very uncouth.
If I had never known Sadness,
I would still be trapped in a daze,
Living life in blissful ignorance,
Unaware of the Saviour of my days.
