Nostalgia

Upon the light around you,
You are in a place where no light can come through.
You keep your head down here,
Not wanting to look up and know what happens near.
When you close your eyes, vivid pictures of the past fills your mind,
But when you look at the present, everything is left behind.
You are alone in this place,
Feelings that you cannot embrace.
While grass is green over there,
Here, nothing seems to be anywhere.
This dark empty place,
Holds you back from the bright open space.
Nothing can stop you from staying here,
Not even your greatest fear.
But there will always be the shining beacon of reality,
A shining beacon of acceptance waiting for you to look up from a place so empty.
