3rd in the 'Spread The Word 2017' competition
The great rocky mouth yawns wide.
The sable blankness seeks to hide
Age-old secrets yet untold.
A puny figure peers into the dark.
Intelligent eyes reflect the spark
Of an action yet unacted.
He lights a light and stands up tall.
Its luminance illuminates the intricacy of the wall,
By human eyes yet unseen.
A million questions through his intellect pound
As he prints his prints on the pristine ground,
To the present yet unanswered.
His successors attempt, by thirst compelled,
To map the secrets by these caverns held --
Age-old secrets yet untold.
