Galaxy soccer

by Deanna Emms

I just can’t believe it happened to me! I had just finished soccer, and we’d won! I was walking home when I saw a light in the sky. I stopped as it came closer. A minute later I was in midair, going up! In a split second I was in a ship, but not on water – in the air! I was scared! Some weird things asked me my name. I said, “Andy.” They asked me how old I was. I said, “Twelve.” They said they needed me for a soccer game. I said, “OK!”
The ship started to move. “Where are we going?” I asked.
They said “Poope.”
“Where’s that? I asked.”
“It’s the red planet, or Mars.”

We got there about two minutes later. We got out of the ship and “Oh my gosh!” Everything was red: the aliens were red, the field was red, even the soccer ball was red! I met the other team. They told me they were the best team in the whole galaxy.

The horn went. I went on to the field with my team. I was playing left midfield. They kicked off. I ran at them, the ball went flying. It flew into the goal! But it did not count because they had not kicked it to another teammate first. Then we got to kick off. My team passed it to the left. I ran with the ball and dodged eight players. I shot at the goal. Their goalie tried to stop it, but was hit in the face and the ball went in! It was a goal! The whistle blew. It was half time. We went off the field. I got my drink bottle. It was empty. I asked if anybody had any water. They had none, but they had Figyi. It was a fizzy drink, and was really nice. The whistle blew to go back on. We kicked off. No one scored a goal until the last five minutes. The other team scored, but we scored again. The whistle blew and the game was over. We had won! We had won out of the whole galaxy! “We are the champions!” they sang.

It was time to go. I took a few Figyis and off we went. They dropped me at the front door of my house. I went in. I tried to tell Mum about it, but she did not believe it happened to me. But it did!
