I sit here trying to pack my whole life into this one bag,
It makes me sad and angry, almost like i'm going to gag.
Trying to choose the things that mean the most to me,
I don't know what to take, everything comes with a memory.
But as I sit here feeling sorry for myself, being scared and sad,
I realise that in some ways I should actually be feeling glad.
At least I have a house, and my whole family is still here,
Unlike those who are homeless, alone and living in fear.
Even those these fires have torn apart lives, homes and towns,
Everyone is still on edge, in case it comes back for another round.
Firfighters are spending day and night trying to finally put an end to this all,
Before anyone else is lost or another community falls.
So i sit here and pray that this ends soon and God will keep us safe and well,
Becasue i'm sick of waking up to that alarming, deadly, fire bell.
