Short Story Big On Quality

Whitefriars College Year 8 student Joel Duggan has the write stuff. He has won the Short Story category in Write4fun's 'The Write Track' short story and poetry competition which received more than 12,000 entries from Prep to Year 12 students across Australia.

Joel, 14, said his story, 'A Dark and Stormy Night' was about entering a writing competition. He said he liked writing in different genres, but especially fantasy. Joel has been writing since he was seven, and has entered competitions for a few years.

This is the first he has won, and for his efforts he got $500 cash, $500 for the school and a Playstation 4 gaming console.

He was surprised and ecstatic to win and his work will feature in Write4fun's hardcover book of stories from the competition.
