Competition Information

**COMPETITION CANCELLED AS OF 4 MAY 2023.**

With heavy hearts, we are utterly devastated to have to announce the cancellation of the Write4fun 2023 'Cool Writings' Student Writing Competition.

As of immediately the competition is cancelled. Judging has ceased. There will be no winners announced, no prizes granted and no publication printed.

In over 26 years of hosting kids writing and art competitions, Write4fun has never had such record low entry numbers.
Along with the minimal entries we have received, plagiarism issues due to new AI technology and growing concern around external cyber privacy from parents and schools, are affecting participation.

Consistently dwindling participation since Covid has meant that at this time it is not possible for Write4fun to keep providing this writing platform for students, or showcase their writing talents in our keepsake books.

We are so very sorry to the wonderful entrants who poured their hearts into the stories and poems we did receive. THANK YOU so much for being part of Write4fun. Thank you to the teachers, the parents and especially our amazing young writers! PLEASE don't be discouraged by this and keep sharing your writing.

We are sincerely sorry for any disappointment and are thankful to the students who did participate. Keep writing!

Enter the 2023 Schools Poetry & Short Story 'Cool Writings' Writing Competition! Students all over Australia are invited to enter their 16 line poems OR 500 word short stories, and battle it out for the great cash & prizes on offer.

There is no theme!! Entrants are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and write on ANY TOPIC and in ANY STYLE. Students from ALL GRADES are welcome to enter - Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Entry is FREE and all entries must be in by the EXTENDED closing date of 23 April 2023!
*Please note, entry forms still have original closing date of 26 March 2023 on them. The competition HAS BEEN EXTENDED to 23 APRIL and all entries will be accepted up to this date.

“We are very excited to be sponsoring this competition,” stated Julia Woods, Managing Editor for Write4fun. “Reading and writing seem to be taking a back seat these days to computer games and evolving technology!  Our hope is that competitions such as these inspire the students to be creative with words once more and have fun doing it!"
