Dancing Elves

Oh, on a full-moon summers night,
Moon a-bright with silver light,
See the Elvies dancing, dancing,
Up-and-downing, prancing, prancing.
Cap of red and coat of brown,
Or green and shimmering, sparkling gown,
Finer folk you've never seen,
Dancing on the meadow green.
Men are spinning ladies 'round,
And then their footsteps leave the ground,
Elvies dancing in the sky,
Wings a-twinkle, skirts a-fly.
And now the dance is at its end,
'Farewell, farewell, farewell, my friend!'
The Elves are up and dancing, dancing,
Off unto their homes, a-prancing.
