I watch and wonder
I try to decipher the whispering of the trees
I question the coyote’s howl to the bright corn moon
I see beyond the unlimited horizon
I want to feel the searching, stretching rays of sunlight
I watch and wonder
I pretend the vivid rainbow will last forever
I feel the delicate flutter of the butterfly’s wing
I worry about the damage of a crashing wave
I cry in the course of the storm’s pouring rain
I continue watch and wonder
I sleep on the swallowing colour of midnight black
I dream the cracking ground will soon be relieved
I imagine storm clouds the size of mountains
I delight in witnessing the fall of a sparkling star
Still, as I watch and I wonder, my awe never fails to cease
