At The Stroke Of Midnight

Finalist in the 'Something With Bite 2010' competition

At the stroke of midnight, the night is lord,
Over Earth, Dark unsheaths his sword,
Like a swarm of wasps, he invades the world,
With his banner of death and destruction unfurled.

At the the stroke of midnight, when we are witness,
To his crimes, sin that is boundless,
Murder, theft, slaughter and hate,
The stench of his felonies doth suffocate.

Like a prowling tiger, waiting to leap,
Ready to ambush, to cause one to weep,
Those symbols of evil, those freaks straight from hell,
Night and darkness, against life, rebel.

But do not abandon all hope, there is still protection,
Against the night, there is still redemption,
Unite with fellow bretheren, spread the light,
And then, only then, might thou defeat the night…
