Blood. Destruction. War.
Trenches filled with the injured.
Gunshots ringing in his ears.
Sweat pouring down his face.
Screaming. Crying. Grief.
Unstoppable bullets flying through the air.
Causing cherished lives to be lost.
Making the young man fire up with anger.
Smoke. Dust. Then rain.
Sweeping everything away for a second.
Making it clear again.
Causing temporary peace on the tense battlefield.
Injured. Hurt. Wounded.
Concentrating too hard on what’s to come.
Missing the bullet that caused it.
A blast of pain tearing through his chest.
Then silence. Calm. Tranquil.
Away from the battlefield forever.
Leaving the war for eternity.
Looking down on his friends fighting for his country, and fighting for the ones that were lost, the men that he is now with.
