A Basketball Game

With your team, jogging on to the court,
The game about to start,
Let your playing not be fraught
But play fearlessly and with heart.
So be sure that you’ve warmed up,
‘Cause Coach expects a lot!
Try that practised lay-up
Aiming well for a good shot.
Make that fastbreak, grab that rebound,
Attack or defend, but work with your team.
Take that bounce pass, watch that ball,
For now, a slamdunk is but a dream.
Whether you win, or if you lose,
The game has now ended.
Put yourself in others’ shoes,
May friendly words be extended.
