Once A Year

Summer comes and goes in a rush of hot winds and fun,
While people spend the day swimming in their pools or at the beach.
No one has pale skin anymore because the suns rays kiss your skin,
You are either red and sunburned or tanned.
Everyone comes together on their Summer holidays,
Especially when they are off camping.
People spend Christmas with their families,
But New Year’s with strangers in a caravan park.
You can stay up late because the sun sets later,
And stay in bed ‘til noon because holidays are for relaxing.
You can even ride your bike while you are soaking wet in a bikini,
And not get weird looks from people that you pass by.
Summer holidays are for making the most of the hot weather,
And having the most fun you can when it is 48*C outside.
Summer comes and goes once a year in a rush of hot winds and fun,
Then Autumn takes over and floods you with a rainbow of colours.
