Rain At Last

Sky full of clouds, ground so dry,
Hope filling the air.
Finally it fell, the first tiny droplet of water.
RAIN, so long without it,
Dreaded for so much,
But finally gravity pulled this tiny wonder,
From the cloud filled sky.
Down, down, down, so far, but so near.
Breaking the surface of an almost dry lake,
PLOP. The most beautiful sound,
The tiny droplet made one last jump up to the sky,
Before being sucked down without the slightest evidence of existence.
Except three tiny ripples spreading into the distance,
But clashing and then overtaken by the other tiny ripples,
Spreading from the other tiny droplets.
RAIN, at last.
