Daddy's Little Girl

It’s nearly that time of year again,
that day I always dread,
each year I get the same feeling
of guilt because you’re dead.

I know it’s been so long,
since I last saw your face,
but it gets hard at times, Dad,
I long for your embrace.

I know this must sound silly,
because you’re never coming back,
but it gets hard at times, Dad,
one day I’m going to crack.

Are you watching me from heaven?
Can you feel my pain?
I need you in my life Dad,
It’s driving me insane.

The memories I have of you,
are really very few.
I can’t recall what your face looks like,
do you miss me Dad, do you?

You were taken away too early,
not a chance to live your life,
it would’ve been so different Dad,
you had a house, your kids, your wife.

Instead you chose your habit,
was it worth it in the end?
Are you happy with what you did?
To your wife, your kids, your friend?

I guess I’ll never know though,
what happened on that night.
Did it hurt when it happened?
I want to know that you’re alright.

It hurts me to know Dad,
Of all the things you did,
too much grief and pain to bear,
I was only a kid.

So many questions dad,
but I guess I won’t know,
why you did what you did
and why you had to go.

I want you to remember dad
that no matter what happens in this world,
to you I always will remain
Daddy’s Little Girl.
