O Mighty Zeus I do praise,
For before you came, this world was a haze.
Your Grace lit the way,
For mankind to take his first steps into the day.
Cronus, thy father, who swallowed you whole,
He who has the blackest soul.
Rhea, mother of thee, saved little Zeus from his doom,
She left him with two nymphs in a cave of gloom.
There in that cave of darkness he grew,
For the world was ready for a new.
Up the stairs of Olympus he marched,
Before his father the Titan that was parched.
You gave him a drink to quench his thirst,
And up came your siblings with a burst.
It was now time for a war to rage,
A war that would end the Golden Age.
