Tiny fierce white fires pierce the blackened sky tonight
Their faint luminescence twinkles gently in my dampened eyes
Cold air blows; it breaks against my body and cools my face
Drying my sodden complexion, chilling my thinly clad frame
I look back at all the mess I’ve made, all the things that I’ve broken
But belay, these tears are for that which I have gained
For the friend who found me, for the place that I belong
My writhing heart, submerged in sorrow for one whom I care for
Is calmed once again, for I see white ships sailing on the horizon
All will be well, in time. Pain will perish, fear will fade
Leaving naught but the crackling warmth by the stone hearth
The deep roar of ocean waves, crashing upon sun bleached sand
The clouds will roll back, to reveal a light that was always there
Only momentarily hidden by the viscous vapor that shadowed us
So now I rest, waiting for you to announce that you are ok
Goodnight my friend, your star shines brightly tonight
