The final crystals of rain slide off the leaves gently
leaving droplets like pearls on my face
a delicate auburn colour frames the ground on which I lay
the sky reflecting the fragile gold of the trees
almost bare skeletons of what was once beautiful
the soft mellow sun melts into the sea
smiling goodbye once more to the broken world
gingerly I place a deep orange leaf in my hand
and whisper to it my secrets.
Standing up slowly
I gracefully cast the leaf into the fragrant breeze
and I watch it dance into the dusk
free
promising not to tell a soul
my secrets.
