Excellence Award in the 'Summer Sizzlers 2011' competition
Growing together in the season of Spring,
Were two tulip sapplings, purple and pink,
Nourished by the sunshine and soaking water with glee,
Gaining height and lustre for butterflies and bees.
Daily he watered the garden joyfully,
Watching the plants grow Oh! so delicately,
The garden was neat, colourful and filled with trees,
A beautiful sight for all to see.
Uprooting the sapplings to the nursery he went,
Where he met the florist who was born in Kent,
The next morning the pink tulip woke up to find,
His purple friend missing from beneath the vine.
The pink tulip's heart was beating with fear,
He didn't know what to do except to let out some tears,
Missing his friend, his heart did churn,
As he waited in darkness for his friend to return.
