Excellence Award in the 'Step Write Up 2011' competition
It explodes out of the ground
Like a firecracker
Continuous sparks, bursting with life
Thrashing it’s green tentacles, abolishing the calm air
Ceaselessly pursuing
To break through the moist soil.
Fresh eyes stare curiously,
As it touches the lips of new life.
Cascades of people stroll by
Barely noticing the chromatic crowd.
As a small cry of joy slips
From its untouched mouth.
Its mother is not yet here
To greet and nurture it,
Nor shall she ever be.
This tree,
This marvel of the natural earth
Stands alone
In a world with people who
Over look it’s beauty and passion
This tree, my love, my life
