The drover knelt beside a mound
And removed from his greying hair,
An old, worn-out Acubra hat
With corks now very rare.
For his faithful dog who underneath
The mound of dirt did rest,
Had found the corks much to his taste
And chewed them up with zest.
While the hot Australian sun beat down
On the drover and his Choc';
He envisioned the times they used to herd
Enormous woolly flocks.
As the drover's memories sailed high,
A tear coursed down one cheek,
And he smiled with the remembrance
Of Choco' and his sheep.
