3rd in the 'Calling All Poets 2007' competition
A fiery bird of molten flame
Flies above our streets.
Watching us struggle in our lives
The clouds are all it sees.
Flaming wings flap, piercing cries call
Across the sky so blue.
Dipping, swooping, tumbling 'round,
Calling for me and you.
The phoenix turns to a pile of ash,
As its life has faded away.
It rises up, reborn again,
To fly another day.
