The slimy tendrils of blackened fear
That wrap around my mind
They make me feel alone out here
In a world that is unkind
The heavy weight of hopelessness
No chance of getting out
It holds me captive in my head
And fills my heart with doubt
But light fills my periphery
Though I don’t dare believe
In this darkness any thought of light
Is difficult to conceive
But its there, I can’t deny it
And it fills my soul with fire
Escape from blackness, numbness
Is the one thing I desire
And so I fight the closing darkness
I push away the pain
With strong determination
My life can be bright again
I hold onto the thread of hope
It helps me through the night
And I know that with a little strength
soon will find the light
