They say it's better to have loved and lost
Than to have never loved at all.
That's what they say, but is it worth the cost,
If now I shrivel from the thought of standing tall?
I'm breaking; bit by bit my world is crumbling apart,
And in the silence of the night I weep alone,
Remembering how foolish I was, for giving you my heart,
Not realising yours had turned to stone.
They say to focus on the present and not linger on the past,
But now my trust and faith in love is shattered and these memories are all I'll have to last,
As my tears and tissues that are scattered
Drain all my strength from moving, once, too fast.
They say it's better to have loved and lost
Than to have never loved at all.
That's what they say, but is it worth the cost
If you're not there to catch me when I fall?
