Waiting For Rain

I gaze across the barren plains
Waiting, praying for the rains
All seems cloudy, far from clear
I still have hope amidst the fear
Each stride I take my heart it strains
In desperation for the rains
Sprinting fast, I’m feeling numb
Despite my angst I won’t succumb
When it hits me then and there
My best effort not to care
Shoots right through like a sharp spear
How could I now escape the fear
I scream and sink down to the ground
Echoing through and all around
And then it soaks right through the pain
I’ve yearned immensely for that rain
