Names Upon The Wall

They went to war, to fight for us in 1914

With their pistols and their rifles, slouch hat and khaki

They did our country proud as they were a great success

But we lost good men, not seen again and we never will forget

As I gather here today, to show respect to men again

To see the names upon the wall, as they didn't get back to the shore

Men young and old were our sacrifice to a good country today

As I take off my hat for these diggers, I hope it will never be again

We take a poppy from our pocket, and we pin it on the board

To pay respect for our elders, the ones that fought for our reward

I see the devastated families, and ancestors gathering too

To see their heroic loved ones, and the great things that they do
