They went to war, to fight for us in 1914
With their pistols and their rifles, slouch hat and khaki
They did our country proud as they were a great success
But we lost good men, not seen again and we never will forget
As I gather here today, to show respect to men again
To see the names upon the wall, as they didn't get back to the shore
Men young and old were our sacrifice to a good country today
As I take off my hat for these diggers, I hope it will never be again
We take a poppy from our pocket, and we pin it on the board
To pay respect for our elders, the ones that fought for our reward
I see the devastated families, and ancestors gathering too
To see their heroic loved ones, and the great things that they do
