Ode To My Dear Mother

Since my birth you clung to me
'fraid I may be hurt.
But all I ever did to you
Was tell you to back off.
You know my love for you is
Sincere as forever.
I now know that you only live
For me, my future and life.
How could I have never known that-
Your tear is blood when I cry.
That your sigh is deep when I grieve
And your laughter genuine when I smile.
And yet, dear mother, you are cold as stone
Outside, letting no-one into you,
Letting no-one see. Letting no-one
Know your hurt, no-one to grieve for you.
