I Love My Dog

I love my dog,
He was so friendly and kind,
He had his own ways in his own little mind.
When I was scared and puzzled,
He would come by and calm me with his warm nuzzle.
I love my dog
He was funny and a bit deluded, once chased a mouse,
One time I took him to see Uncle Tom in the light house
Oohh Boy, he was absolutely, extremely amazed,
Running around the place and peeing on the floor, one leg raised!
I love my dog
Then one day bikie men visited us
Mum told me to run and hide...no fuss
Then he made first mistake – he didn’t listen
I heard shouting and screaming, and behind it all...a deathly wail.
Ohh I still pretend he is here beside me
Not dead...with me in joyous glee
Only time and time again I would remind myself
Your dog died 50 years ago
...I loved my dog
