The tall tough oak,
sitting there day in and day out.
He doesn’t say a word,
just listens to the chatter of the birds.
You might think that
he is frozen,
but he is in a happy place
where there is no pain.
His face,
full of knots and chinks
tells a story like no other.
He has seen more than you will ever see,
he has heard more secrets than you will ever know,
he has more stories than there is time.
When he falls,
the birds will cry,
the forest will weep,
and sorrow will spread her wings and soar.
