Many A Misfit

Innocent child, sleeping in silence and peace
Eyes shut tight, waiting for the screaming to cease
Blame the elders; blame the wilful and the strong
Because you are the innocent and you are still young
Desirable angel, shining with brilliant light
The leader of soldiers through the darkness of night
The great sword of Heaven is grasped in your hand
And beams of sunlight touch wherever you stand
Blameless bystander, you’re singing of lies
You can’t help but hear all the pain and the cries
Standing in the shadows that are cast by your fate
You’re smiling and yet you’re drowning in hate
Sad little misfit, watching as people pass
Stare up at the stars as you lie on the grass
Contemplate the scars and the wall and the hate
And decide to move on, before it’s too late
