We landed at Gallipoli,
Rained upon by artillery,
As the Turks fired at me
I tried to flee the horrors of thee.
I took cover in the trees,
As I fell to my knees,
As the terror caught me,
The shock of the war oppressed me.
My only thought to scramble,
As those behind me have their lives gambled,
My life was in shambles,
Never has there been bloodier battles.
