War consumes the mind,
Death and suffering haunts your every thought,
One minute you were home in your soft comfy bed,
The next you’re in a deep dark trench,
Gunshots and explosions echo all around.
BANG! Your ears are ringing,
BANG! Your frozen in fear,
BANG! Shrapnel and rocks brush past your face.
This is the time you tell yourself, as you leap from the trench,
I MUST BE BRAVE! I MUST FIGHT FOR MY FALLEN FRIENDS! I MUST FIGHT
FOR MY COUNTRY!
Just as you spring to your feet BANG you feel hot lead rip through your
chest,
The pain’s overwhelming, you’re scared and confused, you collapse.
You have the sudden realisation you have been shot,
This is the end.
As you look out at all the chaos just one last time,
You wonder why???
