Glass glints, steel shakes
Birds caw, traffic brakes
Tyres squeal, voices yell
This is Melbourne, can you tell?
The noises of my city
Loud, clashing, melodious and busy
So individual, made of noises
The sounds so different, a cacophony of voices
Voices of buskers, shoppers and workers
Sounds of traffic trams and cooking burgers
Cafès chat, parks can laugh
No other city is like this, not by half
Glass glints, steel shakes
Birds caw, traffic brakes
Tyres squeal, voices yell
This is Melbourne, can you tell?
