Parents Eternal Love

As life begins, we are small and defenceless, so fragile that one sneeze could break us
With your guidance, we gain the confidence to open our eyes to your face, to reach out to you and smile
To walk without help takes time but with your help we learn and start talking for ourselves, to show our own emotion and
To learn that reaching out to you is alright, the time comes when we start school for most of our lives, learning to leave you
Is hard at first, everyday it’s where we go to learn things that you can’t teach us by yourselves, slowly remembering
As the school life progresses we make friends, some good and some bad, learning all about our world
We sometimes listen to the bad friends, they show things to us that look fun, you warn us but we don’t listen
We start the bad choices more often and disappoint you, creating a bigger barrier between us, becoming further away
We don’t listen to you more frequently and we find a lover that shows us the worst things in life
You don’t approve and we take it wrong, with tears in our eyes we leave out of anger, you also broken hearted
You always wait, always watch for any sign from us, always faithful but we never give anything
Years pass and we come back, ashamed, embarrassed, the hope you will forgive us for being foolish
You answer our call, silence sings loudly as we stare at each other, the words that we were too proud to say
Offering your hand, we let the tears fly and all we can do is breakdown, you embracing and soothing us
We apologise so many times, and you quiet us and welcome us home with open arms and open hearts
Our parents’ endless love, something we will learn in time...
