Finalist in the 'Written in the Stars 2013' competition
In the horrible endless stalemate,
The lives of many cease at a speedy rate
And whoever the fighting doesn't end,
Disease, hunger and mutiny will send,
To the mass grave where family remembers
Where many men met their fate
Near a city of embers
Up in the skies,
The bomber plane pilots do the job they hate,
Many soldiers retreat in fear
When enemy reinforcements appear
With the boom of bombs and bang of guns,
The brave soldiers fight on... ...and on.
Everyone will agree that war is no fun
We can't wait till this brutal conflict is done
