Finalist in the 'Written in the Stars 2013' competition
I woke in the middle of the night;
With a fright.
Shadows in my bedside light;
Showed it was a horrible sight.
I yelled, “MONSTER! Dad come quick!”
Dad raced, skidding like he was in an oil slick.
Dad looked about, saying, “Lay still and wait,
YOU have to be monster bait.”
I rolled my eyes and thought, 'Great!'
Dad, me and a monster, a late night date.
Buzzing, fluttering; the monster was getting close.
Swishing, splattering; Dad hit the monster; it was gross!
Dad whispered, “Did the monster do any harm?”
I thought, 'Why can’t monsters show a little charm?'
The monster...the dreaded AUSSIE MOZZIE...
Had bitten me all over my arm!
